ONS President Appointed to The Joint Commission’s Nursing Advisory Council

The Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) is proud to announce that ONS President Mary Gullatte, PhD, RN, ANP, BC, AOCN®, FAAN, has been appointed to The Joint Commission (TJC) Nursing Advisory Council for a 2014–2016 term. Gullatte was selected for this prestigious post because of her excellent reputation, thought leadership, and commitment to nursing.
“I am honored to accept the invitation to serve as a member-at-large on the Joint Commission’s Nursing Advisory Council,” said Gullatte. “I look forward to representing nursing on important issues such as staffing shortages, patient safety, and healthcare quality.”
Established in 2003, the Nursing Advisory Council counsels TJC on present and evolving nursing and patient care-related issues that affect healthcare quality and patient safety. It shares perspectives on Joint Commission initiatives that may impact the nursing profession or patient care, and identifies ways in which recent and future changes in TJC’s standards and accreditation process can be optimized relative to nursing and patient care.
