Identify the principles of cancer biology, genetics, and genomics and how they play a role in the management of a patient with cancer
Discuss the role of the advanced practice provider in screening, early detection, and prevention efforts
Describe various diagnostic studies and how their results factor into the staging and prognosis of specific tumor types
Discuss the care of the patient undergoing chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, and or hormonal therapy for the treatment of cancer
Explain strategies to address the identification, assessment, and treatment of specific side effects and symptoms related to cancer and its treatment
Identify appropriate management strategies for the oncology APN to initiate for oncologic emergencies
Describe methods to assess for key survivorship issues and the role of survivorship care plans and summaries into advanced nursing practice
Identify principles of palliative and end of life care
Discuss the role of the oncology APN in helping to address the legal and ethical issues related to end-of-life care
