Nurse in Washington Internship (NIWI) Program - Deadline to apply: November 1, 2014.

The Nurse in Washington Internship (NIWI) Program is an annual event sponsored by the Nursing Organizations Alliance (The Alliance) and ONS is one of the participating organizations. The next NIWI Program is scheduled to be held March 15-17, 2015, in Arlington, Virginia (across the river from Washington DC). The Alliance sponsors the internship to promote the interests of its member groups through education, research, and health-policy activities. Over the years, more than one thousand nurses have attended NIWI, many of whom have become influential participants in the political process at state and federal levels. ONS Distinguished Awards

The ONS Distinguished Awards were developed to recognize individuals for their career achievements and for their outstanding contributions to cancer care.

ONS Excellence Awards

ONS Excellence Awards provide members with unique opportunities to be recognized for their contributions and achievements within their field of expertise.

ONS Pearl Moore "Making a Difference" Awards

This new category is designed to recognize individuals and teams that go the extra mile and make a difference in the lives of cancer patients, their families, and their communities.

ONS Employer Recognition Award

This new award was developed to recognize those employers who show exemplary support for and/or honor registered nurses working in oncology. There are three awards available based on the employers size: Small (less than 25 oncology RNs), Medium (26-100 oncology RNs), and Large (101 or more oncology RNs).

ONS Lectureships

The ONS Oncology Clinical Lectureship was established to recognize and support excellence in the clinical practice. This lecture is presented at the ONS Annual Congress. The Trish Greene Memorial Quality of Life Lectureship was established to focus attention on the quality-of-life issues in cancer care. This lecture is presented at the ONS Annual Institutes of Learning (IOL).

ONS Research Awards

The annual ONS research awards recognize individuals for their contribution to oncology nursing research.

ONS Publishing Awards

The ONS Publishing Awards honor nurses who have put their thoughts and findings into words.  The publishing awards seek to recognize writers at all levels of experience as well as those who have made a difference in patient education literature, quantitative, and qualitative nursing research.  Please note that ONS does not accept nominations or applications for publishing awards.  All full-length articles that have appeared in the appropriate volume of CJON or ONF and meet the selection criteria automatically will be considered for these awards.

Lilly Oncology Advancing Patient Care Project

Are You Looking for Project Funding? ONS and Lilly Oncology can help! Through the Lilly Oncology Advancing Patient Care Project, ONS and Lilly Oncology are offering stipends of up to $5,000 for nurses who have a professional development, patient care, and/or nursing leadership project they’d like to fund.

Honor Someone Special
